  • Use short words when you can.

  • Start sentences with a capital letter.

  • Use capitals for names of people and places.

  • Do not write in ALL CAPITALS – it looks like shouting.

    • Subtitles: size 16

    • Main writing: size 14

  • Font should be clear and easy to read (like Arial, Calibri, Verdana).

  • Choose pictures that match the age group.

  • Some people like cartoons, but not too childish.

🌍 Easy Read today

  • More things are Easy Read now than before.

  • But we still have a long way to go.

  • For example: many libraries now have graphic novels that are easier to follow.

  • But not everything is made in that style.

💬 Personal story

  • I missed out on many children’s books as a child.

  • Because of my dyslexia, they were not easy to read back then.

  • If there had been more Easy Read, I would have enjoyed books more when I was young.

✅ Tip

Different people like different styles.
👉 The best way is to ask the reader what works for them.
