✍️ 1. Refined Advocacy Piece / Poem

This Is Not Love

Here’s something people don’t always talk about.
But they should.

It is not okay
to pull your hair,
to slap your face,
to kick you across a room,
or force you to do something you do not want to do.

That is not love.
That is abuse.

It does not matter if they are angry.
It does not matter if you love them.

They do not have the right
to take their anger out on you
or anyone else.

You did not “make” them angry.
They chose how to act.
They chose harm.

You are not to blame.
They are responsible for their actions.

Abuse is not about gender.

It is not always men.
It is not always women.

Anyone can be hurt.
Anyone can harm.

There is no perfect world.
We do not all have to like each other.

But no one has the right
to control, hurt, or destroy someone else.

Every life matters.

No one has the right
to choose who you love,
who you trust,
or how you live your life.

We are all someone.

Someone’s child.
Someone’s partner.
Someone’s friend.
Someone’s family.

That matters.

You matter.
