Poetry for All (2015)
π«️ A Strange Old Day
It’s a strange old day—
foggy, misty,
a quiet kind of heavy.
I wake to frost
resting on rooftops,
clinging to cars,
like winter has settled in for good.
The sky—
a sheet of white
drifting slowly by.
Then later,
it darkens—
black swallowing the edges
of houses behind,
fading into mist.
White to black,
black to white—
like a block of ice
changing shape.
And by four o’clock,
the day is already gone.
Bare trees stand still—
no leaves,
just winter.
π Oh These Winter Misty Nights
It’s hard to tell
fog from mist—
mist from fog.
The night feels thick,
dark enough
to hide everything.
Yet still—
haze lingers
around the back houses,
glowing under street lights.
Bare trees
stretch beside chimney pots.
And under the door—
cold drafts creep in.
π The Unknown
Hard to explain.
Hard to believe.
Maybe I didn’t understand
the way adults did.
But still—
it happened.
And they got away with it.
When you are a child,
you are told:
“Seen and not heard.”
But what is not seen
is often not believed.
I lived through it.
I got through it.
But that does not make it right.
Day by day,
I found a way
to keep going.
Memories remain—
shocking,
unforgettable—
even after thirty-five years.
School may have let me down—
but life after
has not been so bad.
π£️ Give a Voice for All
We were seen—
but not heard.
Too young
to understand.
But if it is happening—
shouldn’t children know?
Where do we draw the line?
This is not simple.
Adults should protect.
Adults should notice.
But sometimes—
it is not adults.
Sometimes
it is children
hurting children.
So we learn.
From the past—
to build the future.
✍️ This Is Poetry
This is poetry.
Words from the mind.
Poetry about life.
Poetry about learning.
Poetry about people.
Poetry about places.
Poetry about
everything
that could be.
Give me the words—
and I will write them.
I think.
I feel.
I write.
π¨ This Is My Ability
Needing support
in everyday life—
that is my disability.
But my art—
my drawing,
my painting,
my poetry—
that is my ability.
Helping others—
that is my ability.
And in the end—
I am as human as you.
Just a slower learner.
π₯ Poetry
Poetry is power.
Poetry is voice.
Poetry is choice.
Poetry is you.
Poetry is me.
Poetry is a way
to express
what cannot always
be spoken.
Thoughts in the mind.
Feelings inside.
πΈ Your Beauty
Beauty is not just
what you see.
It is who you are.
Some have beauty outside.
Some have beauty within.
Some have both.
Beauty changes—
and that is okay.
Never judge a book
by its cover.
Because if we were all the same—
what a boring world
that would be.
True beauty
is kindness.
