Easy Read Dyslexia & Dyspraxia Module

 I have updated the Easy Read Dyslexia and Dyspraxia module to include text and questions. The questions now include prompts to help learners compare difficulties, similarities, and differences between Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.



Dyslexia

What is Dyslexia?

  • A learning difference affecting reading, writing, spelling, and language 🧠

  • Not about intelligence

  • People may read slowly and make spelling mistakes ✏️

Challenges:

  • Reading slow and hard 🔤

  • Trouble understanding meaning 😕

  • Writing messy, grammar/punctuation hard 📄

  • Memory and organization difficulties 🗂️

Support:

  • Break tasks into small steps 🪜

  • Use visual support 🖼️

  • Oral reports, extra time, assistive technology 💻

Easy Read Questions (Dyslexia):

  1. Does dyslexia mean someone is not intelligent?

  2. What skills are affected by dyslexia?

  3. What is decoding?

  4. Name one reading difficulty.

  5. Name one writing or spelling difficulty.

  6. Why can memory be a problem?

  7. How can teachers or workplaces support someone with dyslexia?

  8. What tools or technology can help?

  9. How can visual support help?

  10. Can you think of a way dyslexia and dyspraxia might be similar or the same?


Dyspraxia

What is Dyspraxia?

  • A learning difference affecting movement and coordination 🏃‍♂️

  • Not about intelligence

  • Everyday tasks like writing, dressing, or sports can be difficult ✏️⚽👕

Challenges:

  • Fine motor skills hard (writing, scissors) ✏️✂️

  • Gross motor skills hard (running, jumping) 🏃‍♂️🤾‍♂️

  • Hard to plan and organize movements 🗂️

  • Hard to break tasks into steps 🪜

Support:

  • Extra time for tasks ⏱️

  • Use tools and assistive technology 💻🖊️

  • Staff patience, break tasks into steps, adapt activities, give positive reinforcement ❤️🌟

Notes for Easy Read Module:

  • Short sentences, one idea per line

  • Focus on effort, support, and confidence

  • Questions encourage comparing difficulties and similarities between conditions
