  • Depression

    • Feeling very sad, hopeless, or uninterested in life

    • Can affect sleep, appetite, energy, and concentration

    • Support: therapy, counselling, medication, family support

  • Diabetes

    • Condition affecting blood sugar levels

    • Types:

      • Type 1: body doesn’t make insulin

      • Type 2: body doesn’t use insulin properly

    • Support: medication, healthy diet, exercise, regular monitoring

  • Down Syndrome

    • Genetic condition affecting development and learning

    • Can affect physical growth, facial features, and intellectual ability

    • Support: therapy, educational support, medical care

  • Dyspraxia

    • Affects coordination, planning, and movement

    • Can make everyday tasks harder (writing, dressing, sports)

    • Support: occupational therapy, physical therapy, learning aids

  • Dyslexia

    • Affects reading, spelling, and writing

    • People with dyslexia may have average or above-average intelligence

    • Support: specialist teaching, assistive technology, extra time in exams

  • Dysgraphia

    • Affects writing skills, including handwriting and spelling

    • Support: typing, speech-to-text software, occupational therapy

  • Dyscalculia

    • Affects understanding and working with numbers

    • Can make maths tasks difficult

    • Support: practical tools, visual aids, specialist teaching

  • Developmental Delay

    • Children may develop skills more slowly than expected

    • Can affect speech, movement, learning, or social skills

    • Support: therapy, educational support, medical care
