My Memories of Woodstock and My First Trip to New York
Sara’ Memory
I remember visiting Woodstock with my Mum. We had our
photograph taken doing the peace and love sign, which was a perfect memory of
such a famous place.
Mum bought me a Woodstock T-shirt in 2009 for the 40th
anniversary of the Woodstock Music Festival, which was celebrated in August
that year. I was born in October 1969, the same year as the original festival,
so I was also turning 40 in 2009. I have always thought that was a nice
coincidence.
In 2009, Mum came to the UK for a week or two before taking me
to New York for my first visit. Not long after I arrived, my sister, Holly,
took me out, although I was very jet-lagged after the journey.
It was also my nephew Jaiden's first Easter. Mum made me a
beautiful photo book to remember my first trip to New York, and I still
treasure those memories.
When I got back to Mum and Warren's house after travelling,
Warren showed me where all the snacks were, but I was so jet lagged that I
could hardly think straight.
A few years later, in 2014, Mum, my stepdad Warren,, and I
went to Woodstock together. It was a wonderful day out and another special
family memory. By then, my oldest nephew, Jaiden, had been born, making the
trip even more meaningful as our family continued to grow.
Mum’s memory.
Looking back, my visits to New York and Woodstock have given
me many happy memories with my family.
The Woodstock T-shirt, the peace and love photograph, and the
photo book Mum made for me all remind me of those special times we shared
together.
