A poet is mindful of words.
From thinking, researching, and reflecting—
from the head to the pen,
the typewriter, the keyboard, and the page.
Is it good or bad?
Either way, we write what we know.
We all write as if it is something special.
Really, they are just words
that may or may not mean something.
They may or may not be poetry.
Honestly, we can all do that, can’t we?
It is simply a way of expressing ourselves.
Whether we speak or write,
it is luck of the draw
whether it makes sense or not.
It is just thoughts
moving through the mind.
π± Dis-A-Bility
Dis – this is ability.
This is strength.
Dis – this is difficulty.
Both exist together.
π£️ Poetry Is a Voice
Poetry is a voice.
Poetry is how we speak
from the mind onto the page.
Poetry is voice,
words,
and meaning.
The voice is about being heard.
It should also be about being understood.
π Dyslexic Poetry
What did I read?
What did it say?
What did I watch on TV?
So much…
I cannot remember.
π€ Am I a Writer?
Why do you see yourself as a writer?
No—I don’t.
I just write what my mind tells me to write.
I write lines
because years ago, my teacher told me
to remember the books, I read.
I understood them at the time…
but now I cannot remember.
Does that make me “thick”?
In college, I passed exams
with support in my studying.
Maybe I didn’t try hard enough.
Maybe some would say
I shouldn’t have needed support.
π‘ Truth About Ability
I am not good at everything,
but I am good at most things.
What I have written
is simply me
summing up the life I have lived.
Support or no support,
I have achieved what I have achieved.
❤️ A Message to Others
This poem is for others
who have struggled like I did.
Do not let anyone tell you
what you can or cannot be.
You will get there—
even if you are not there yet.
There is no shame in needing support.
Get the help you need,
whenever you need it.
π Final Message
Believe in yourself.
