🧠 Easy Read, Training, and My Experience with Mencap

During my time working with Mencap, I was supported through Enterprise Access All Areas. This gave me the opportunity to take part in training and development work focused on inclusion, communication, and accessibility.

One of the most important experiences I had was taking part in a training session in the UK library system focused on Easy Read. This session explored how information can be made clearer and more accessible for people who may find reading difficult.

It was a practical reminder that Easy Read is not just about simplifying language. It is about making information understandable, respectful, and usable for everyone.

Being part of that training helped me see how powerful accessible communication can be. It is not only for people with learning disabilities, but also for anyone who struggles with reading, processing information, or understanding complex written language.

This experience has stayed with me while I continue writing and developing educational material around learning disabilities, mental health, and accessibility.
