Understanding When Behaviour May Happen
Many students, trainees, and young people often say:
“Why didn’t anyone tell me this could happen?”
This is why education is important.
People should be taught that challenging behaviour can sometimes happen in certain conditions or situations.
Important Message
This does not mean behaviour should be accepted if it is unsafe.
It means:
- We understand why it may happen
- We prepare for it
- We respond safely and appropriately
Conditions Where Behaviour May Be More Likely
Challenging behaviour may be more common in people with:
