Study Tips & Exam Guidance
✅ Use references when learning and practicing, but remember:
-
As exams get closer, try to use fewer references.
-
Some exams allow little or no reference material.
✅ Do not copy anyone else’s work.
-
No cheating.
-
Make your own notes on key points.
My Experience
I studied for many years without knowing what questions I would face.
-
At the time, it felt like a big challenge.
-
Now, I realise it’s just part of learning.
For example, when I studied English, the subject covered many different topics.
Common Exam Questions in This Module
You may see questions like:
-
What is a learning disability?
-
What is Down Syndrome? (this is a specific type of learning disability).
-
What is mental health?
-
What is NOT mental health?
How to Read Questions Carefully
-
Highlight key words in the question (e.g., What? When? Who? How? Why?).
-
Example:
-
When was the Tower of London built? → “When” means you need a date.
-
What is the Tower of London? → “What” means you need a description.
-
When was the Tower of London not built? → Watch out for words like not, as they change the meaning!
-
The English language can be tricky – sometimes one small word makes a big difference.
Key Tip
When we are nervous in exams, it’s easy to miss words like not, when, or which.
Take a breath, read the question carefully, and focus on what it is really asking.
