📖 Suggested Chapter Plan

Why This Book/ blog Matters

Disability is not just a medical condition — it is also shaped by society, attitudes, and barriers. Disability Studies teaches us to see disability not as a personal “problem” to fix, but as part of human diversity.

My book builds on these ideas. It is for:

  • Students and professionals – in health, education, and social care, who want to understand disability better.
  • Families and carers – who support people with disabilities and mental health conditions.
  • People with lived experience – who deserve to see their voices reflected and respected.

What This Book Covers

We will explore:

  • Learning Disabilities – what they are, how they affect people, and the strengths people bring.
  • Mental Health – including anxiety, depression, and how these connect to disability.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) – understanding different conditions and how schools, families, and society can help.

I use clear explanations, personal stories, and real examples from my work raising awareness with student professionals in:

  • Learning Disability Nursing
  • Social Work
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Paramedics
  • Teaching and Education
  • …and more.

This book is about understanding the words, conditions, and experiences — but most importantly, it’s about seeing the people behind the labels.
